OBJECTIVE
General objective
Contribute to regional dialogue through an exchange of experiences and best practices as regards the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in providing medical and sanitary services, with special emphasis on innovations, new tools, support standards and regulations, in order to promote social integration processes in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Specific objectives
- Address public policies being implemented in Latin America and the Caribbean as regards ICTs and health, while underscoring the impacts of ICTs on the health sector as a vital component in social inclusion processes.
- Exchange experiences, innovations in service provision, lessons learned, new tools and support standards in Telemedicine and e-Health, in order to improve access to health services in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Gain knowledge about new regulations and standards in the areas of Telemedicine and e-Health with a view to improving the harmonization and inter-operability of systems and promoting coordination of decision-making processes among various health systems.
- Contribute to an effective implementation of the goals of the Action Plan on Information and Knowledge Society in Latin America and the Caribbean (eLAC 2015), with special emphasis on goals 12 and 13, relating to the provision of health services through ICTs, in accordance with the guidelines for inclusive social security.
