OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this activity are as follows:

  1. Analyze the approaches, progress and challenges of cooperation between governments and the private sector for disaster risk reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean;
  2. Start the process to identify, systematize and analyze the mechanisms, tools, services and ways for cooperation which could be offered by the private sector to support governments in cases of disaster in Latin America and the Caribbean;
  3. Relate experiences and best practices on the contribution and cooperation offered by the private sector in cases of disaster in the region, in support of the actions taken towards disaster risk reduction by the governments; and
  4. Recommend policy measures to improve cooperation and coordination between the private and public sectors for disaster risk reduction in the region.
