OBJECTIVES

This Regional Meeting is intended to:

  1. Provide an overview of those policies and initiatives being conducted by Latin American and Caribbean countries in the field of border integration and the role of national authorities and regional and subregional integration and cooperation mechanisms in strengthening such cooperation;

  2. Collect and systematize successful experiences and best practices in this area at the intra-regional and inter-regional levels;

  3. Exchange information on opportunities for international, South-South and triangular cooperation that are now available to the Latin American and Caribbean countries and the initiatives that have been undertaken in the region with the support of bilateral and multilateral development agencies; and

  4. Promote a space for regional dialogue on the exchange of offers and demands for cooperation in the field of border integration.
