ITEM II. FORUM: “ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL PROSPECTS IN LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN”

The Permanent Secretariat submitted to the Latin American Council a study entitled “Latin America and the Caribbean: A long-term vision of development, trends, challenges and policy options” (SP/CL/XXXIX.O/DI Nº 28-13), which is the base document for the Forum “Economic and Social Prospects in Latin America and the Caribbean, which was conducted within the framework of the XXXIX Regular Meeting of the Latin American Council. 

The objective of the forum was to make an analysis and a reflection on the economic and social development of the region, with a prospective approach based on the current situation of the region; to assess the main trends and future scenarios for economic growth; to foresee possible risks that could negatively affect growth; and to consider priorities and possible policy strategies.
