The general objectives of this Seminar are as follows:

1. Conduct a pre-feasibility analysis as regards the creation of Regional Guarantee Systems for SMEs in Central America;
2. Review the achievements concerning innovative financial mechanisms and instruments to complement guarantee systems; and
3. Promote the integration of work teams in Central America, in order to make progress for launching regional guarantee systems.

This seminar has the following specific objectives:

1. Move ahead towards the creation and/or consolidation of guarantee systems in the Caribbean;
2. Involve public and private, national and subregional financial institutions in efforts to create regional guarantee systems;
3. Train officials in relevant topics on guarantee systems to support SMEs; and iv) Obtain contributions, suggestions, possible adjustments and comments from participants of the Seminar, in order to enrich the content of the pre-feasibility study.
