Requirements to enter Mexico

Nationals of the following countries or regions in Latin America and the Caribbean must obtain a visa to travel to Mexico. For purposes such as recreation, business or any other non-remunerated activity in Mexico, which does not exceed a 180-day stay, travellers must request a visitor's visa without permission to perform remunerated activities at any Mexican consulate.

Foreigners who submit one of the following documents will not be required to have a Mexican visa:

A document attesting permanent residence in Canada, United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or any of the countries belonging to the Schengen Area.

Current and valid visa of the United States of America.

APEC Business Traveller Card (ABTC) approved by Mexico.

A certificate stating that the traveller is a member of the crew of the arriving aircraft.

Seaman’s Book (Libreta de Mar), if the traveller is a member of the crew of the boat arriving to a Mexican port in international transit. If the traveller arrives by air to join a ship in a national harbour, he must submit, in addition to a Seaman’s Book, a document confirming his enrolment, as well as the data about the boat and the Mexican port where it is located
