REGIONAL MEETING ON THE INTEGRATION INDEX FOR LATIN AMERICA LATINA AND THE CARIBBEAN

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this activity was to present SELA’s “Integration Index for Latin America and the Caribbean,” as well as the advances in the construction of SIECA’s Regional Central American Economic Integration Index. In this event, participants gained information on the methodology used by SELA and SIECA to analyze the degree of integration of the countries in the region.

More specifically, the purpose of SELA was to consider and evaluate, through this index, the different stages of the integration process and the phase in which each of the subregional mechanism is located in this process. In addition, it aimed to monitor on a regular basis the compliance with the agreements towards the explicit objectives of each agreement. For its part, the objective of SIECA was to continue validating the advances in the construction of the IRIEC, in order to strengthen and improve the measurement
