ELECTRONIC COMMERCE IN PRACTICE AS A TOOL TO PROMOTE TRADE FACILITATION

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

Contribute to building the capacities of key governmental actors and representatives of the trade industry and civil society from the Member States of SELA in electronic commerce, in order to provide them with the necessary tools to develop and promote an inclusive, dynamic, reliable, secure and harmonized e-commerce in Latin America and the Caribbean.

A.   Specific objectives: 

  1. Train participants in the management of practical and fundamental elements of e-commerce.
  2. Update and increase participants’ knowledge of the most important topics related to e-commerce: Fundamentals of e-commerce and e-government, regulations, ICTs, payment, logistics, marketing, etc.
  3. Enhance knowledge of the opportunities for international trade insertion and increased intra-regional trade of America Latin and the Caribbean.
  4. Present trends in e-commerce in the region that should be considered to promote its growth.
  5. Contribute to closing the skills gap in the management of technological tools for Latin America and the Caribbean.

B.  Expected results: 

  1. Improvement of capacities of participants to use digital and electronic tools that facilitate the development of their business models and the expansion of their markets.
  2. Understanding and management of the various aspects that influence the consolidation of e-commerce as a business strategy.
  3. Promotion of best practices and lessons learned in the use of ICTs as a key element of the business growth in the region.
  4. Boost to the institutionalization of the use of ICTs to reduce the digital gap in Latin America and the Caribbean and promote its use for regional socio-economic development.
