NETWORK OF DIGITAL AND COLLABORATIVE PORTS MOVES TOWARDS HIGHERLEVELS OF INNOVATION AND EFFICIENCY
Network of Digital and Collaborative Ports moves towards higherlevels of innovation and efficiency
The Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), jointly with CAF-development bank of Latin America, in partnership with the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation (PLIPDECO) and the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, will conduct the "IV Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Logistic Port Communities", in Port of Spain, from 08 to 10 August 2019.
This meeting will ensure continuity of the cooperation activities carried out by the Permanent Secretariat of SELA as part of the Programme for the Creation of the Network of Digital and Collaborative Ports, with the support of CAF-development bank of Latin America since the year 2014, which involves the participation of 28 ports in 13 countries in the region.
Participants in the opening session will include the Permanent Secretary of SELA, Ambassador Javier Paulinich, and the representative of CAF-development bank of Latin America in Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Gianpiero Leoncini, who will be joined by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Honourable Paula Gopee; the Minister of Labour and Transport, Honourable Rohan Sinanan, and the President of the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), Professor Emeritus Kenneth Julien.
In preparation for the event, the III Colloquium on Scientific Research on Logistic Port Chains is scheduled to be held on Wednesday 7 August at the facilities of the UTT.
The management of community initiatives encouraged by the Network has become a regional landmark, focusing on the use of technologies to promote innovative solutions. In this connection, the objective set by the year 2020 is to move ahead towards the development of new areas of work in order to create a mechanism of digital transformation and promote greater efficiency in ports in Latin America and the Caribbean.
