CUBA PARTICIPATES IN PREPARATORY MEETING FOR THIRD LAT AM-CARIBBEAN SUMMIT

Havana, Mar 30- Cuba participated in Mexico City in a preparatory meeting of experts prior to the Third Latin American and Caribbean Summit on Integration and Development scheduled for July in Caracas, Venezuela.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, the 20 representatives that attended the meeting exchanged experiences on the infrastructure of transportation, telecommunications and borders.

A note from the Mexican government -which assumed the pro-tempore secretariat of the event as the organizer of the previous summit- indicates that recommendations were made on several topics that will be analyzed by the heads of state and government and other dignitaries who will attend the meeting.

According to the same source, the participants and representatives from 10 organizations working for regional development agreed on the advances attained in this regard as an essential element to achieve integration in the sub-continent.

Attending the event were experts from Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay.

The website of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) announces that works in advance of the Third Meeting of Heads of State and Government of the Latin American and Caribbean Summit on Integration and Development will begin on July 3rd with a working meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the participating countries.
