Washington, April 2 (PL)- U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday meets with his peers from Mexico and Canada during the summit of leaders of the member countries of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Obama, along with Mexican President Felipe Calderon and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, will analyze in this capital issues such as mutual cooperation in face of the challenges on security matter, as part of a shared responsibility approach, the White House reported.
Among the objectives of the summit are the establishment of a strategic agenda in questions such as regional competitiveness, clean energies, environment, climate change, and cooperation on health matter.
The statesmen will also review the advances of the trilateral agenda, create priorities for the coming months, and seek to boost the regional economic platform.
Other global and hemispheric issues to discuss are Mexico's role in the presidency of the Group of 20 (G-20) and the upcoming Summit of the Americas, to be run in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, on April 14-15, organizers said.
