Lima, April 3 (Andina)- Peru became the host nation of the World Economic Forum on Latin America 2013, to be held in April next year, and which is organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The Peruvian government made the proposal during the last World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, held in Davos (Switzerland) in January, which was attended by President Ollanta Humala.

The World Economic Forum on Latin America addresses the role of the region in the global economy, considering that Latin American countries remain as attractive destinations for global investment.

The region also shows strong finances, continuous economic growth and social development despite the current global environment.

Previous editions of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum on Latin America have been carried out in Sao Paulo (Brazil) in 2006, Santiago (Chile) in 2007, Cancun (Mexico) in 2008, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 2009 and 2011, and Cartagena (Colombia) in 2010.

These annual meetings have brought together over 550 Latin American leaders including government officials and business people.

This year, the World Economic Forum on Latin America will be held in the city of Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) on April 16-18, and in 2014 in Panama City.

In this regard, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru Export and Tourism (Promperu) reported it will attend the World Economic Forum on Latin America 2012 to be held Mexico.

The commission highlighted its participation in the forum as it is a key opportunity to identify trade opportunities for Latin America and Peru.

It will also be an opportunity to promote the country image and Peru’s tourist attractions, especially the city of Lima, which will host the World Economic Forum on Latin America 2013.
