Castries, August 23 (PL)- The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) sanctioned a project to assist the member states in the enforcement of commercial accords with transborder partners and world money bodies.

A communiqué from the regional institution says the goal is to facilitates a future treaty with the WTO, simplify and harmonize trade rules within the OECS, boost proficiency in business meets and shrink trading delays while studying tariff payment alternatives, data accessing and socio-economic and political coop. and aid among clients and with other partners.

The signing in 1973 in St. Kitts and Nevis gave life to the Treaty of Basseterre, substitute of the Association of East Indian States.

The biennial congress is one of five government board pacts okayed under the Treaty's 2001 review. Each full member -Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Montserrat and St. Vincent and the Grenadines- has five MPs and three per associates Anguilla and the UK Virgin Islands.

Most of the current members are partners of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the financial body that reins foreign trade, plus a joint Supreme Court and military forces wit headquarter in Barbados.

The OECS operates one currency (the Eastern Caribbean Dollar) and enacted visa exemption for the traffic of humans and products and common world trade tariffs.
