CARICOM APPROVES MUTUAL INVESTMENT FUND WITH SPAIN

Georgetown, August 29 (PL)- The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Spain approved a common fund for cooperation, encouraging investment and facilitating exports, said the regional organization.

The project includes support to operations and business arrangements, and assistance to the Secretariat of the regional bloc as well as support to its financial system.

Another objective of the project is to facilitate the development of CARICOM exports under bilateral trade agreements with the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia and Cuba.

In the summary of the talks, both sides explored other potential areas of bilateral cooperation in the context of the promotion of regional integration in the Caribbean, and this will be discussed in an upcoming meeting, scheduled for February 2013.
