OLADE ORGANIZED THE LATIN AMERICAN AND THE CARIBBEAN ENERGY EFFICIENCY NETWORK MEETING

Quito, May 15- Last Wednesday May 8th, it took place in Quito, Ecuador, the General Council meeting of the Latin American and the Caribbean Energy Efficiency Red LAC-EE with the participation of representatives from 20 member countries of OLADE. This session was held in the context of the activities of the V Latin American and the Caribbean Energy Efficiency Seminar, organized by the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Ecuador (MEER) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Hamilton Pollis, current Executive Director of the Network, on behalf of Dr. George Alves Soares, President of the Executive Committee of the Red LAC-EE and representative of Eletrobras. There was also the participation of representatives of the sponsoring organizations and members of the Executive Committee of the Network: OLADE, Victorio Oxilia Davalos, International CopperAssociation (ICA), Rosario Retamal Savings Trust Electric Power Mexico (FIDE), Aldo Torres Villa, and the Chilean Agency for Energy Efficiency, Natalia Arancibia. At the beginning of the meeting the presence of Professor Mentor Poveda was acknowledged with public thanks, for his work as the first Executive Director of the Network.
At the General Council meeting, among other things, the Instruction of Operation of the Red LAC-EE was reviewed and approved and the Annual Work Plan was submitted by the Executive Director. The objective of the Red after this meeting is to strengthen the participation of developing countries, add new users and get further sponsorship opportunities.
