Lima, May 22 (Andina)- Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper arrived yesterday in Peru to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Harper is accompanied by Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs), Diane Ablonczy.
Members of Canada's Parliament and a group of entrepreneurs also came to Peru.
The prime minister is scheduled to meet with President Ollanta Humala Tasso today.
"The meeting will focus on deepening bilateral cooperation in economy, development, education and defense," said an official statement of prime minister's office.
Harper will also hold talks with private sector leaders and Canadian businessmen who have investments in Peru.
With this visit, the leader will become the first president of his country who travels to Peru, the third partner of Canada in Latin America and the Caribbean, after signing a treaty of free trade in 2008.
