Castries, September 6 (PL)- The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Kenny Anthony, praised the work of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) but said that certain financial adjustments for the region must be approved, media reported.

Anthony replaced his counterpart in St. Kitts and Nevis, Denzil L. Douglas as president pro tempore of the Eastern Caribbean Monetary Council.

During a meeting of the Council in this capital with the Finance Ministers of the countries belonging to the ECCB, Anthony expressed confidence in the fiscal management and banking system for the region.

Despite the international situation, the EECB has done a good job in maintaining foreign exchange reserves and the stability of the East Caribbean dollar, he said.

Anthony also said that financial stability, fiscal sustainability and debt, and growth and competitiveness of member countries of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States will remain priorities for the institution.
