Port-au-Prince, September 6 (PL)- Haiti is going forward with the preparations of the 11th Meeting of the PETROCARIBE Ministers Council, to be held in this capital on September 6 and 7.
The organizers of the meeting are expecting the presence of delegates from 21 countries, among them 18 members of the block created in 2005 by an initiative of deceased Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.
According to the agenda, the participants in the event will deepen in the strategies of development of the Economic Zone of PETROCARIBE, starting from the decisions adopted in the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government in June in Nicaragua.
One of the most important decisions was the fostering of investments in areas such as sea transport, airline transport, telecommunications, productive chains, tourism, trade and culture.
In the social aspect three plans were defined: to eradicate illiteracy, increase education and cultural instruction, widen the Vision Now Operation and foster food programs.
PETROCARIBE gathers Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Suriname and Venezuela.
According to its members, the organization is based on the respect, equality and a system of fair financing scheme, with good results, satisfying all the member countries equally.
