Seoul, September 30 (Yonhap)- South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se has met with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez for talks on increasing cooperation with the 33-nation Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), his ministry said yesterday.
The meeting took place in New York on Friday on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, and the two sides agreed to work together to further expand the fast-growing cooperation between South Korea and the CELAC member nations, the ministry said.
Cuba is holding this year's presidency of the CELAC.
The two sides also agreed on the need for a specific road map for cooperation, with Yoon expressing hope for greater cooperation especially in trade and investment, infrastructure, tourism and human resources development, the ministry said.
Yoon and Rodriguez also discussed ways to expand cooperation between South Korea and Cuba. The two countries have not opened diplomatic relations yet.
