High Level of Commitment of CELAC Members Highlighted

Montevideo, May 16 (PL)- Secretary General of ALADI Carlos Alvarez highlighted the commitment of all the members of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to continue strengthening that integration process.

The top official of the Latin American Integration Association just returned from Havana, where he attended to the fifth meeting of National Coordinators of CELAC last week.

Alvarez told Prensa Latina "how interesting was to witness the commitment of the bloc, comprised of the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, to keep moving forward in the CELAC process, whose pro tempore presidency is occupied by Cuba.

Cuba has focused on the fact that Latin America adopts common stances in multilateral organizations, specifically in the United Nations, Alvarez noted.

Alvarez underlined he left Havana feeling very optimistic since he could witnessed "how countries with very different national projects show a very high level of commitment to continue advancing and strengthening CELAC”.
