Cuba, India Pave Way for Bilateral, CELAC Relations

New Delhi, May 28 (PL)- Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez and Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari reviewed bilateral relations and discussed means to strengthen them.

Rodriguez presented the also head of the Upper House of the Indian Parliament some possibilities for promoting trade and cooperation links between India and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

CELAC, founded two years ago in Venezuela, aims at promoting trade with Asia, a region that brings together more than a third part of the world´s population and includes the emerging dynamic economies of India and China.

Along with Brazil, Russia and South Africa, these two countries comprise BRICS, an organization with which CELAC also plans to increase trade exchanges.

During the third and last day of his official visit, Rodriguez will meet his Indian peer Salman Khurshid and deliver a speech on India's relations with Cuba and CELAC.
